Bryan J
[one-half] [/one-half] [one-halflast] Bryan J, the next super-star artist to be released under C. Tricky Stewart’s RedZone Records, distributed by Island/Def Jam, has made quite the impression on the young ladies of the internet, and not just for his infectious smile or his inviting gaze, but for the sound of his voice. Bryan, a 23 year old from a small town outside Atlanta, was signed to Tricky Stewart after initially recording demos with RedZone producer/songwriter Sean K Hall. Bryan’s viral video for “Let Me Take You Out” featuring Travis Porter has more than 2.5 million views and launched him into the world of being “the new heartthrob”, according to Vibe Magazine. The public awareness from his single and the YouTube response led to Bryan being asked to join fellow IDJ artists on the Teen Island Fan Fest Tour, opening at this summer’s Justin Bieber concerts, whose hits “Baby” and “One Time” were both produced and written by C. “Tricky” Stewart. Ulrika
[one-half] Some people have to move halfway around the world in order to feel at home. Count Ulrika Lindstrom among them. The Stockholm, Sweden native moved to the United States after graduating from high school to pursue her dream to become a singer. Fortunately, super producer Christopher “Tricky” Stewart (Beyonce’s “Single Ladies [Put A Ring On It],” Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” and Justin Bieber’s “Baby,” among others), heard her material through some of his Atlanta connections and was drawn to her powerful vocals, her distinct accent and her pop sensibility. Tricky requested Ulrika audition for him. After the performance, Tricky felt she had that special “it” factor, from her voice to her look. He believed that with his direction Ulrika had the potential to become an international music star, just like Bieber, Beyonce, Rihanna and his other clients. “When I met Tricky, he changed my world because of his way of writing, the way he approaches music,” Ulrika says. “I never felt understood and Tricky found a musical home for me. I understood myself and my music.” Now based in Los Angeles and Atlanta, Ulrika has been working with Tricky and his team on her performance and material for her forthcoming album. Her songs deal with life’s real emotions, the dramatic highs and suffocating lows we navigate — as well as the tightrope we traverse in between. Ulrika co-wrote “The City,” a powerful documentation of her move to Los Angeles and the sense of being overwhelmed that enveloped her at times. The song’s piano chords, which alternate between gorgeous and stark, serve as a perfect backdrop for Ulrika’s soul-searching lyrics, which debate the merit of staying in a foreign land while chasing your dreams. Elsewhere, “Confess” details the emotional struggle we endure when we’re unsure about what to say to someone we’ve fallen in love with. Both the optimistic “Time Will Tell” and the perseverance anthem “A Perfect World” illustrate how people can move beyond their frustrations to achieve bliss. Then there’s “Love Is Blind,” a song that argues that if you don’t believe in love then you’re watching life from the sidelines. It took a move halfway around the world for Ulrika to feel at home, to hit her artistic stride and to find a producer and co-writer in Tricky who understood and embraced her talent. He has even given her the opportunity to co-write with him on a song for Jesse McCartney. She had to be willing to make some changes in her life in order to get closer to fulfilling her dream. “Going through change is the best thing in life,” she says. “You just feel alive.” You can feel it in every note of her music. She’s home — finally — thanks to Tricky. For additional info on Ulrika visit her official site: ulrikamusic.com [/one-half] [one-halflast] Video [/one-halflast]
